Methamphetamine residue is invisible. Visible staining on walls, ceilings, carpets, etc. are more likely related to cigarette smoking and filth. Although meth production will sometimes leave stains/splashes (depending on the cook and quantities). Meth residue cannot been seen with a naked-eye unless production has been taking place for a long time.
A meth use or production property won't necessarily smell, either.
Experienced clandestine drug decontamination technicians have learned that the only way to tell if a home is contaminated with meth use or production residue is to test. Often homes look clean, then test at higher levels than an interior that is debris filled and dirty.
